The French manufacturer, building aircraft since 1990, officially unveiled its two-seat hybrid-electric personal eVTOL alongside the Mayor of Scottsdale and the Consul General of France in Los Angeles, with video remarks from the Mayor of Phoenix.
Scottsdale, Arizona. October 15, 2026. DTA Aircraft opened its United States headquarters at Scottsdale Airport today and officially unveiled the JP1, the only two-seat hybrid eVTOL in the United States. The JP1 will be assembled in Arizona, with local suppliers and local talent.
“We could have opened elsewhere in the United States. We chose Arizona because it moves fast on advanced air mobility and because the suppliers we need are already in the Valley. The JP1 will be assembled here.” Théo Parant, CEO, DTA Aircraft.
Lisa Borowsky, Mayor of Scottsdale, and Adrien Frier, Consul General of France in Los Angeles, spoke at the opening, in front of state and city officials and Arizona's aviation community. Kate Gallego, Mayor of Phoenix, addressed the guests by video.
The JP1 unveiled in Scottsdale is a flying aircraft, with 200+ hours of flight testing in France. After the unveil, guests walked around the aircraft and sat in its cockpit.
The JP1 was unveiled beneath a 1942 Boeing-Stearman PT-17 at the Thunderbird Field II memorial. During World War II, Scottsdale Airport was Thunderbird Field II, where more than 5,000 young pilots learned to fly on the same biplane trainer. The opening fell on the eve of the 82nd anniversary of the field's closing, on Oct. 16, 1944.
DTA is not a startup entering aviation. The company has built aircraft in France since 1990, with 595+ aircraft sold across 33+ countries and 300,000+ cumulated flight hours. The JP1 is its first eVTOL.
Arizona sits between California and Texas, where many of DTA's customers fly, and has a deep general aviation ownership culture, with airports all around the Valley. In September, DTA launched a student program with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, whose students work on the JP1 alongside DTA's engineering team. They attended the opening alongside students from ASU's Thunderbird School of Global Management, born in 1946 on Thunderbird Field I in Glendale.
“Our goal is to ensure these exciting technologies create economic opportunities, high-quality jobs, and meaningful benefits for our community. DTA Aircraft delivers on making that vision a reality.” Kate Gallego, Mayor of Phoenix, in video remarks.
“We have been building aircraft in France since 1990. Opening in Scottsdale is how we start building them in America. Together, we're going to put Arizona on the world map of advanced air mobility.” Théo Parant, CEO, DTA Aircraft.
The JP1 flies two full hours with two people on board, where all-electric eVTOLs stay under an hour. It refuels in minutes at any airfield. Eight rotors keep it flying with up to four propeller failures, and a whole-airframe ballistic parachute is the last layer. Like the Stearman, it seats two in tandem, and the second seat sits on the center of gravity, so the JP1 flies the same alone or with a passenger. It takes off and lands vertically. The autopilot flies the aircraft. The pilot decides where it goes.
The JP1 is on a Light Sport Aircraft certification path under the FAA's MOSAIC rule. High-resolution images of the opening, b-roll and the JP1 specification sheet are available on request.

DTA Aircraft has been designing and building aircraft in France since 1990, primarily gyroplanes and trikes, with 595+ aircraft sold across 33+ countries and 300,000+ cumulated flight hours. Its new aircraft, the JP1, is a two-seat hybrid-electric personal eVTOL: eight rotors, a whole-airframe ballistic parachute, and two full hours of flight with two people on board. Designed in France. Produced in the USA. The JP1 will be assembled in Arizona, and DTA's U.S. home base is at Jet Aviation in Scottsdale. Priced at $385,000, on a Light Sport Aircraft certification path under the FAA's MOSAIC rule.
